India fights Covid-19
Due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, there is bound to be a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of daily wage earners.
Under the prevailing circumstances the daily or contract wage earners are the worst-hit because they are dependent on their daily earnings to meet the basic needs.
India’s poorest fear hunger may kill them before coronavirus
At least 90% of India’s workforce is employed in the informal sector, according to the International Labour Organization, working in roles like security guards, cleaners, rickshaw pullers, street vendors, garbage collectors, and domestic help.
Most do not have access to pensions, sick leave, paid leave, or any kind of insurance. Many do not have bank accounts, relying on cash to meet their daily needs.

Construction workers
There are around 20,000 ongoing construction projects across the country, and construction work is being undertaken in around 18,000 of them. This involves a workforce of about 8.5 million in construction work alone. These construction workers are many of them are using credit facilities at nearby tea and food stalls, but how long can this be sustained? The same situation prevails for other daily wage labourers in other Industries. Â
About the Campaigner
Aarohanum, based out of Mumbai, with operations in Mumbai and all major Tier 1 Cities was incorporated in 2014. We are actively bringing about positive outcomes in sectors like Health, Child Welfare, Education and Literacy, Family Welfare, Women Empowerment etc via crowdfunding. The beneficiaries of this campaign including construction workers, rickshaw pullers, auto and cab drivers, hawkers, garbage collectors and kiosk owners, etc.
Program:
The program has been designed to provide a meal kit with necessities like Dal, Glucose biscuits, Oil, Poha, Rice, Salt, Sugar, Wheat flour, Rava, Pav, etc. With the help of this fundraiser, 5000 families of daily wage laborers will get essential food supplies.
Your contributions will ensure that the families of these daily wage laborers needn’t go to bed hungry hereafter. We appeal to kind donors like you to join hands with them and fight hunger together.
-Each meal kit (for a family of 5) would contain a combination of Dal, Glucose biscuits, Oil, Poha, Rice, Salt, Sugar, Wheat flour, Rava, Pav, etc. Each kit for a family costs Rs. 500.
